When Ryan Seacrest announces who is going home from American Idol, he of course tries to make the announcement as dramatic as possible by including frequent and large pauses and by not using predictable phrasing. Typically, he begins the real "crescendo" of his announcement by stating the name of one of the two poor saps who is left standing there in the "bottom two," and then it takes him another minute to basically either say that said person is either "safe" or "going home." I would not be surprised if I tuned into the show one night and heard the following:
Ryan: "Lisa (pause), you sang 'Respect.' (pause) Randy and Paula said they liked it and you (pause) 'showed improvement.' (pause) Simon said (pause) it was 'atrocious.' (pause)
"Trevor (pause), you sang 'Sitting on the Dock of the Bay.' (pause) Paula said (pause) it was 'hot.' Everyone else (pause) questioned your song choice.
(long pause)
"America voted (long pause) and the votes are in (long pause) and America agreed (long pause) with the judges (long pause) who said that Trevor (long pause) gave a performance (long pause) that they felt (long pause) was not inconsistent (long pause) with what Simon said (long pause) after week 3's show (long pause) during which (long pause) Randy said (long pause) that America would probably feel (long pause) that a particular performace (long pause) was something (long pause) that the judges would vote on (long pause)."
Trevor: "So I just lost control of my bowels, but I have no idea if I am going home or not."
